The more of this you can give us up front, the more useful the first conversation is: the type of premises and its rough size, what you are trying to achieve, whether there is existing equipment or cabling in place, and whether the requirement is being driven by a customer audit, an insurer or a fire NOC.

For a factory it also helps to know the shift pattern and headcount, because that determines whether an attendance system needs one terminal or four, and what processes run in each area, because that determines fire detector selection more than the floor area does.
