Fire detection selected per process, not per estate
MIA's variety makes detector selection the central design decision. A textile unit carries high airborne fibre and lint that will clog and false-trigger optical smoke detectors. A food processing unit has washdown areas, steam and humidity that rule out standard detection in parts of the building. A machining or engineering shop has oil mist and grinding dust. Each of these needs a different answer - heat detection, appropriately rated enclosures, or a different technology altogether - and applying one specification across a mixed estate produces exactly the pattern of nuisance alarms and disconnected devices we find on takeover surveys.
